Buried part 1

Buried part 1

In 2022, while researching old coal ash records in Mooresville, N.C., I realized the public had not been told the full truth about one of the sites.

The NC-DEQ Coal Ash Structural Fill Map, shows that 100,000 tons of coal ash was placed at the Mooresville Credit Union, right aacross from their police & fire station.

However, the records show the coal ash is actually under five properties, including the Tutor Time daycare.

For years, children have been playing, with coal ash mere inches below their feet.

I have repeatedly requested that the Mooresville Board of Commissioners bring in real scientist to study this ash fill, for heavy metals and radiation.

In March of 2024, I went out with an environmental company, using an industrial geiger counter to search for gamma radiation. This was our first stop, at an ash fill. We found coal ash within five minutes, as alarms sounded on the machine.

We were averaging levels of 20 to 22, with spikes of 25, in the areas where we found coal ash.

In June of 2024, I met Nate Morabito of WCNC Charlotte, out at the site. I showed Nate and his camera man where we had found the coal ash.

A week later we met again, and samples were taken from the median with coal ash. Those samples were sent to be analised by coal ash expert, Duke University professor Avner Vengosh.

As of this writing, we are waiting for results of the coal ash samples, taken from the site.
